Admission Process to Study in United Kingdom

The UK has a rich legacy of universities of international repute such as the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. UK education is value for money as the students receive globally recognised degrees at affordable tuition fee. The degrees can be tailored to your interests and often include specialised modules.

So, we have ample justifiable reasons to choose UK as a study abroad destination.

If you are also looking forward to study in UK, then it’s essential to know as to How to Get Admission in UK.

Choose the University, College and Course

To confirm that you choose the course suitable to your interest and professional aims, it is essential to gain as much knowledge as you can about the array of courses, colleges and universities and also check the course entry requirements. The best way to do this is by checking the institutions' websites.

Application Process for UNDERGRADUATES

If you are looking forward to apply for an undergraduate course in the UK, you can register and apply to all of the universities and colleges of UK through UCAS (Universities and College Admissions Service). You can apply for up to five courses at once through UCAS.

Registration Requirements

  • Application

Fill in your application form at the UCAS website.

  • Personal Statement

Once this is done, write your personal statement which reflects your interest in the course, your relevant skills, experiences and achievements so far.

  • Reference

Apart from the personal statement you need to include a written reference from someone who can confirm your ability to do the course.

Application deadlines

There are four application deadlines throughout the year:

October

For most courses in

  • medicine

  • veterinary medicine

  • science and dentistry

Also, for courses at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge

15th January

It is the ‘on time’ Deadline for most undergraduate courses

March

For some art and design courses

30th June

Late deadline for most undergraduate courses. You need to keep in mind that applications received after this deadline automatically go into "clearing", and then you will not stand a chance to be guaranteed your first choice.

2. Receiving an offer

You will be contacted by UCAS once you have offers from your chosen universities or colleges.

Once you decide to accept an offer, you can respond to it through the UCAS website and be assured that you are a UK student.

POSTGRADUATES

Postgraduate courses in the UK have their own explicit entry requirements and application processes. The best way to check is through the individual course websites for exact information on how to apply.

Registration Requirements

Majority of the requirements are same as undergraduate courses. To register and apply, you have to provide:

  • Your personal details

  • Your qualifications

  • A reference or contact details of a referee (From a Tutor, teacher, lecturer or Professor)

  • A personal statement to explain your interest in the course, your abilities, experiences and achievements so far which prove that you are the right applicant.

Direct applications

Again unlike undergraduate courses, many UK universities handle their own postgraduate applications, as such you can usually apply directly through the university website to Study in UK. You can check the details of the course information and the application instructions on the university website.

Applications through UKPASS

UK Postgraduate Application and Statistical Service (UKPASS) scheme gives you the possibility to apply for up to ten postgraduate courses through one simple application, but this is applicable just for a few courses.

Application deadlines

Unlike the undergraduate courses, many postgraduate courses do not have a fixed application deadline. So, you have the flexibility to apply whenever you decide though it is always better to apply early.

Application through the UKPASS service can be done at any time as there are no deadlines. However, your preferred universities and colleges may have their own closing dates, so you'll need to check with them before you apply.

You see you need to know the right process and requirements for applications to ensure your admissions to Study Abroad.
