Here are some basic requirements:

Academic record of School Certificate would be equivalent to Form 7 (matriculation) of New Zealand Secondary Education.

International students may satisfy the general requisite for admission if they are holders of the International Baccalaureate or A level exams of any of the UK examining bodies. All (A) passes must be gained at the same sitting. Passes in 5 approved subjects include 2 at GCE (A), or passes in 4 approved subjects include 3 at (A), or any compatible SAT score may also be considered.

Language prerequisite: Proof of an adequate level of competence in English is required from overseas students seeking entry to a university in New Zealand

IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Undergraduate students require a minimum score of 6.0. However, Postgraduate students require a minimum score of 6.5.

PTE (Pearson Tests of English): For the Post-graduate Diploma or Post-graduate Certificate, Bachelor Honors Degree, Master’s Degree (All at Level 8 or 9) and Doctoral Degree at Level 10 a PTE score of 58 or more is required. For Certificate or Diploma at Level 6, Diploma or degree at Level 7 and Graduate Certificate or Diploma at Level 7 a PTE score of 50 or more.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Undergraduate students require a minimum score of 550 or a scaled score 0-30(80-120). A minimum score of 600 or a scaled score of 0-30(80- 120) is required by postgraduate students

Colleges of education:

Polytechnics: Entry level qualification for international students generally is Class XII in the relevant subjects or an exam recognised by New Zealand Polytechnics. Evidence of English Language proficiency is needed.

Private Institutions: The Institutions solely decide the details of entry requirements. General requirements are similar to those in universities.

Management Institutions: MBA admissions from a recognised institution with a relevant major the following criteria needs to be fulfilled:

  • 550+ GMAT score

  • IELTS 6.5 minimum for English Proficiency

  • Additional sub scores or TOEFL score of 550-600 (100-120)

Tuition cost:

The tuition cost ranges from NZ$20,000 to NZ$ 55,000. Fees are usually full program tuition fees. The regular designated major intakes in New Zealand are in February and July.
